Unplanned Stop in Portugal

A week ago we sat in a pub in Bristol, watching the rain fall outside and wearing three or four layers, when we looked at each other and said, “Somewhere warmer?”

We had not planned on going to Portugal but in the game of loosely planned travel some times the weather channel is better at informing your decisions than the guide book. Portugal had three cities with 10 day forecasts predicting day time temps in mid to high 60s.

After three days in the gray and wet welsh city of Cardiff, the two busses and one uncomfortable RyanAir flight were totally worth the sunshine we landed in.

Yay! Unplanned side trips are what long, loosey-goosey international travel is all about. I’m glad you guys got to warm up!
